TAPE TO DVD TRANSFER

Camtronics Camera Repair is now offering Video Tape to DVD Transfer services. This includes VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi 8mm, Digital 8mm, and Mini DV.

Videotape was a wonderful substitute over old 8 mm movie film, but its lifespan has been proven to be significantly shorter than first predicted of 30 to 40 years. Lifespan for these tapes, especially VHS, depends on a number of factors including frequency of use, storage temperature, and humidity.

Videotape is made from a base of polyester, which is coated with polyurethane. The coating acts as a binder, trapping magnetic oxide particles — the carriers of the magnetically encoded information — within the tape. That binding system is fragile, and your memories of your child’s first steps…vacations…and holidays are at risk. Recent studys have suggested that Video Tape starts to degrade after as little as 5 years, and can in some cases be damaged beyond use in as little as 10 years.

Later versions of Video Tape have a slightly longer lifespan, but are still subject to damage from infrequent use, temperature, and humidity. Video tape is certainly not the suggested media to archive your memories with.

We can transfer your video tape to a quality DVD for long term archiving. We do this service at our location, Our pricing is very competitive, and we offer volume discounts for multiple orders.

We are also now offering transfer service on old movie film. If you have old movies recorded on movie film, and you want to keep these memories alive, it is very important to transfer these films to DVD as soon as possible. Most movie films we see are more than 30 years old, and when we receive them for transfer, some customers are disappointed to discover they have degraded during storage. It’s not too late for most film to be transfered to DVD with quality preserved, but as time passes the quality of the film lessens.
